Yesterday’s setup was a selective “accountability corridor”: even with the DSEX soft, the market was still paying for proof-of-work—new highs, strong closes, and leaders that could hold shelves while their sector averages got marked down. Tuesday didn’t broaden that corridor; it reinforced it, but with a slightly different feel: less “fresh breakout parade,” more “can you hold the wheel when the water hits the deck.”

The boat metaphor still works—but the center of gravity shifted from “new-high ignition” toward “new-high defense.” APEXFOODS (Apex Foods Limited) stayed #1 and still closed at a new 1-year high around Tk 328, but it did it while finishing red on the day and closing well off the session high. That’s not a failure; it’s the market testing whether the wheelhouse can stay intact when the tape doesn’t cooperate.

Meanwhile, Insurance ballast didn’t sink—if anything it firmed up in the leadership stack. SONALILIFE (Sonali Life Insurance PLC) surged to #2 with a new high close around Tk 102.4, and SUNLIFEINS (Sunlife Insurance Company Limited) held #3 with another constructive green day near Tk 61.9. And importantly for yesterday’s “rudder check,” SAMATALETH (Samata Leather Complex Ltd.) reclaimed the Tk 100 handle and jumped to #4—exactly the kind of re-engagement we said would matter if the rudder was going to steer again.

This is not “risk-on is back” or “breadth is healed.” DSEX was still down around 0.4% and the sector tape is broadly heavy again. The right read is still selection: capital is choosing a few accountable operators to keep moving the boat forward while the sea stays choppy.
